Updated Post: Light Therapy Acne Mask

The time is here where I finally update you all about the Neutrogena Light Therapy Mask. If any of you read my blog post about trends that are worth the effort, you will remember that I mentioned wanting to try this funny looking mask. WELL, I’ve gone out of my way, all for you guys to buy it and give it a try (okay honestly I did this mostly for me actually, I really wanted to see if this thing really works).

I can report to you all with confidence that it is totally worth the small chunk of change! I have now been using the mask for 3 weeks and I can see a noticeable difference when I consecutively use it each day. The mask helped to tone down readiness in my face which helped to clear up those red pimple spots that won’t ever seem to go away. It also helped with drying up existing pimples that decided to create an uninvited party on my face. I was completely obsessed with the spot light treatment but always hated that I had to start the light processes over again on each pimple I wanted to zap. Now, I can get all those pesky pimples at once with the mask!!! And it only takes ten minutes, during those minutes I take that time to force me to relax and scroll through Pinterest, insta, or just close my eyes to relax.

Don’t worry I’m not going to just leave you with my opinion, heres some research behind the product. The mask uses red and blue light which is exactly what you want because blue light kills bacteria and the red light reduces inflammation. I will tell you guys this though, this mask will not do anything for whiteheads, blackheads, or cystic acne. This mask is primarily for the red raised bumps we get on our faces that most people instead call acne. The red light will reduce your bodies immune system reaction to a pimple which is what causes redness, pain, and swelling that lovely zits have (live love the zit life). The blue light targets a bacteria called Propionobacterium acnes which lives on our skin and in gross terms, eats up the clogged up oil in our pores. Lastly, this bacteria contains a compound called porphyrins and a strong blue can make this compound release oxygen free radicals that will kill the bacteria from the inside.

Wow, okay, I know I just hit you guys with a lot of info but I like to have the facts about this kind of stuff and think you all should know those facts too! So bottom line what you should get out of that information is that this mask really does help to kill those nasty pimples that we hate so much. I am not going to guarantee you all results though because I too have tried a million things that people recommend and they don’t always work. BUT, I do believe that this mask is worth a try if you are looking for a miracle (fine, a scientifically backed up) product to help clear up your skin.

Keep me updated if any of you try this mask or have tried it! I would love to know in the comments if you all feel as passionate about this product as I do!!!!

XX Love, Mc Kenzie
